Numenorian Army

Mon Sep 02, 2013 1:49 pm

Hey folks, further to asking about the Numenorians in the General Discussion forum I have started painting some with the intention of building a 'historical' army for both SBG and WotR. Currently finished are 8 spearmen, 6 swordsman, a Captain and a standard bearer. Enough for 2 companies! Here are three of the swordsman;

They are really nice, where did you get the swords from?

Update on my army, here is what I have painted so far!

Ridcully, the swords are from the plastic Numenorians. I've managed to build up a big supply of spare plastic swordsman over the years for this purpose, as I much prefer the metal figures!

Next up is 8 more sword/spearmen to make 3 Companies for WotR.

The later pics are a bit difficult to judge on painting quality, but they seem to be just as great as the first group.
Clever use and conversion of other models too, with those paintjobs they fit in very nicely, and allow much more diversity than otherwise would be available to a Númenórean army.
Any chance for a close-up of what I presume is the captain (converted.. Éowyn?)?

Cheers Coen! Yes the Captain is a converted Eowyn, here is the best that I can do for the moment for a better picture but can always get another once I'm home:

You're right that the selection of Numenorian figures is very limited so I'm trying to think outside the box. So long as I use models with chain mail and keep to the same colour palette they appear to fit in just fine- so far at least!

Awesome work there! The painting is great, and the conversions are great, but the banner and Eowyn conversions are just fantastic! I have 2 spare Eowyn's in that pose, and now I finally have something to do with it (besides catching dust)! :) I think I might steal your idea.

Great looking army and conversions makes Numenorian's look like a fun army to play! Any plans with the big hero's in the force?

There are some very good ideas in your force so far. I'm going to have to steal some of them myself.

I really like a lot of the conversions that you made. Smalls things like the feature on the lieutenant's helmet makes the miniatures really special.
