GW's online articles were of a much better quality before they updated the site. There were some great how to articles, such as how to build a Rohan fort (which was absolutely incredible), and how to build a ruined watchtower. Its a shame all the old articles were lost.

Also, I made a funny mistake with my Barrow Wight. I'm following GW's guide for painting the Army of the Dead (bascoat Shadow Grey, then layer Codex Grey and Fortress Grey). Step 3 calls for a Thraka Green Wash - so I start appliying the wash. Then halfway through, I realise that purple would have been a better choice as its what I chose to wash my Shade.

So, panicking, wanting to get rid of the green wash before it dries, what do I do?... Dunk the model in my water pot.

Tip. Apply new wash experiments to one area, you can take a dry brush and pull almost all of it off if done immediately. if not, it is only a small area that needs to be fixed.

Umm, most of the old articles were WD articles or pretty close to ones that are in it. I have most of the issues for the past 6 years or more. The Arnor Tower Template, The tents (harad, gondor, rohan) templates, The Rohan House (also Gondor house, gondor Fort, Ruin), Hobbit holes....Just tons of scenic things that are available. Too bad there was not a way to get online Subscription that allowed you (within your year of sub) look at all back issues online with all articles in PDF format or at least printable/downloadable.

The Barrow Wights are now finished, bar varnishing and basing. I must say, I'm rather proud of them - they're some of my best painting. Unfortunately photos will have to wait until the weekend as I'm restricted to a 500mb Orange Mobile Dongle while I'm at Uni.

OMG OMG OMG I just dropped an Indiana Jones DVD case on top of a pile of 12 of my plastic rangers! curse you Indiana Jones! ...Miraculously, only two are broken (a sword tip and a bow tip) so I suppose I should at least be grateful that I dodn't break more.
