The TLA painting effort

Mon Jun 18, 2012 12:27 am

What's this about you might be asking.
Well, remenber when TLA was seen as the place to go for guides on everything?
What if we had at least 1 painting article for every type of unit or hero?

With that in mind I'll post here a list of guys who don't have a painting guide yet.
I'll cross them off the list whenever an article covering one of them is uploaded.

This does not mean that articles covering models that aren't on the list aren't welcome, all articles are welcome.

Hmmm...
I've never done a painting guide before but I'll try to paint Elrond up some time in the near future.
I'll also try to do some Galadhrim knights and warriors and a Goblin guide.

how do you tell the difference between a Galadhrim knight and a Galadhrim knight elite? :?

Also it might be a good idea to, as soon as The Hobbit minis are released, have lots of 'The Hobbit' style painting guides around so that we become the sort of the reigning power for The Hobbit miniature painting guides.

good idea by the way, lets make TLA great once more! :)
What we need is a few good 'taters.
What's 'taters, precious? What's 'taters, eh?

I had an article on painting the Dwarf command (old metal one) on the old TLA. I think I still have it.
I'll see if I can dig it up (and maybe re-write it a bit).

Other then that, I'll see if I can make some more painting articles, but frankly, the fact that the list is so huge makes it kinda unmotivating.. :P

None the less: very good initiative! It would be awesome if TLA would have a painting guide for every single LotR model! :)

Great idea LK, I have a lot of free time now, so I'll try to get some articles up when I can, just got to wait for decent light to take pictures with, probably starting with one of these: Galadhrim Warriors, Dwarf Warriors, Black Dragon Warrior (in alternate colour schemes :D), Wild Warg, or a guide to painting horses, as that's what I've got on my painting table at the moment.

True, but it'll be more awesome when it finally gets shortened :P

Looking forward to more submissions.

CGoM touched on something I was wondering about. Do you want these painting guides to be 'by the book', or are alternate schemes okay?

Sorry to bring back up and older post but i have recently dug out my old LOTRBG monthly magazines that i had collected, which have painting guides in most of them with pictures. Unfortunately, due to the magazines being old, the colours that are told to be used are no longer available as they are the old GW paints. If you want, during my spare time, i can start constructing articles by copying what is written in the magazines and include the photos or would this be seen as copyright?

Nah, I dont think even gee dub could copyright something that is made to be copied :)

EDIT: I forgot about this thread... I need to do those articles some time...

I didn't know where to put this but we need a new painting competition!
