Pine bark.

I made this Stone Giant the same basic way I would a rock formation. The pine bark is free.

Wood glue works best. You will need to clamp the bark if you do not pin it. I use several brands of Plaid craft paint to finish rocks. I also collect the lichen for the trees.

No. The problem is the tree was killed by an infestation of pine beetles. I most certainly can't send it over seas. The pulp wood growers would be very unhappy. The EPA certainly won't be happy If it crosses state lines. You can get safe pine bark at a garden center.

This loblolly pine was struck by lighting before the pine beetles infested it. http://forestpests.org/georgia/pinebarkbeetles.html

I mean safe for your local forest. Pine beetles are dangerous to pine tree farms.

I would have given you a pick up truck load if I could.
You did not say where you live.

Uk and when I look around the net for any its like £5 for a piece about the size of the head of your stone giant and the trees where I live aren't one to have bark on them, I don't know what kind but just never found a pice of bark bigger than my thumb!

Well, in the game "Lord of the Rings; The Third Age" when you explore Moria they had some very convincing walkways and scaffold mixed with the dwarven architecture. Also Rohan was using wooden walls and Palisades. It can easily be assumed that Dwarves when making huge vast mines use scaffold and build ramps and walkways through out the complex cavern systems they would explore for raw materials. And I would bet Orc cavern fortresses would have walkways built up with wooden ramps and scaffolding. So just because you design ispired by goblin town does not mean you have to use it as a goblin town. make one, it will look cool with most LOTR armies.
