The way back machine.

Postby afastr » Sat Jun 04, 2011 8:06 pm

Not sure if this has been posted before, if so ignore it. ;d

Was trawling through my PC to try and find my old articles from when I was on TLA years ago with no success.

Then my random browsing through wikipedia brought a website called the way back machine. Basically it's an archive that takes a capture of websites systematically. I thought I'd have a look at tla through it, and low and behold there are fully functional archives of the old site including all the articles as far as I can tell.

Each page seems to have been captured at a different time, but theres alot of stuff there, might be worth a look if you're after an article that was on the site before it went down etc.

Another note is that there are multiple captures available for each page, so for example.
The Painting Elves article page, is much more comprehensive in this cap taken in 2009.....

Than the same page in 2005

You can adjust the archive date that the particular page you are currently accessing using the handy tool bar at the top of the page...

that bar on top is new, should make it easier to spot some that we might have missed
We have been to that site and we've saved a considerable amount of articles. The community also sent in more
must make a new thread to ask with help formatting them...
Takes too bloody long to get one online
