Terrain&Diorama&Converting&Scenario Competition Talk04-05/11

Postby LonelyKnight » Sun Apr 03, 2011 5:49 pm

The place to discuss all the 04-05/11 terrain, diorama, converting and scenario competitions.
Might seem like a lot for one thread but neither has had many comments lately.

A question . Diorama competition, does this include a single figure on a scenic Cavalry base? Reason I ask is that I have touched up the paintwork on my Goldberry and she is based on a larger base on a river bank scene thus making it a Vignette. I would class it as a vignette though some may differ.

I would say so.
The Gimli on dead uruk is clearly a small diorama.
In your case you wanted to show goldberry by the river bank.

Of course if you enter her in the painting the focus will be on the paintjob, and the base itself will be rather irrelevant. While in the diorama competition the painting, while still important, will probably lose to more elaborate ideas.
Guess you could enter it in both :P

Thanks! Hmm, it is a catch 22 as I have entered Tom Bombadil in the painting competition and I dont think the vignette is as an elaborate base as I would like to think! That said, nothing ventured nothing gained and will enter her anyway as you dont see many Goldberry models these days!

So, does anybody know any uses for a converted, skipping Tom Bombadil?
As the little hippie broke of his base when I wanted to take pictures I can't enter him in the competition, being unable to take pictures of him now he's glued.

Anyway, good luck to the entrants in all competitions. Hope the final hours will bring in a couple more, we've got quite some members and only so few entries? That can't be right.
