This announcement is from Beasts of War:
At Throne of Skulls over the weekend it appears some news has dropped on the future of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit with Games Workshop. The video above by Spillforeningen the Fellowship discusses some of the information but you can find out more over on the Great British Hobbit League Facebook Group.
Here is a bit of a breakdown of the news…
♢ Sourcebooks are being re-printed
♢ New Sourcebook available in October
♢ Out of production models will be bought back by Forge World
♢ Dain should get himself a model!
♢ Adam Troke will be working on the new books for (at least) four years
♢ Same overall rules but a new rulebook will be released with tweaked mechanics
♢ Name will change to Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game
♢ Game might delve into the Lord of the Rings appendices for content in the future
So, this sounds like a pretty good thing for fans of the Strategy Battle Game. The Throne of Skulls event really seems to have helped towards boosting the profile of the game and getting Games Workshop’s information.

That sounds pretty good!
The rules are great, solid and play well, but if I was to be able to request areas for tweaked mechanics it would probably be things like with timing of Might (having to declare heroic casting and use Might... before being charged by a heroic move and not casting a spell at all, etc) and the extremely liberal monster Hurling rules. Perhaps even more precise wording of what counts as in the way (centre of model to centre of model? any side to any side? etc).
But whatever happens, it's good to hear the plans for the sourcebooks and additional models.

Nice to hear.
I have just been playing about five years, so in a way it feels like there is already material and figures to keep playing for ever. But the support and new stuff is of course super-interesting. The thing that they will re-make oop figures is good, because then the prices of those second hand models hopefully stop from getting higher and higher.
And generally the news The One Game isn't a "dead" or "dying" is an inspiration for the whole scene!
