Easterlings - My next army project

Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:39 am

I recently borrowed an Easterling army for a tournament just to try something different, and really enjoyed using them.
So now, I shall create an Easterling army of my own! There will be infantry and heroes, cataphracts and armour, and deep golds and reds. The kilt for day-to-day wear, and in battle, we don a full-length ball gown covered in sequins. The idea is to blind the opponent with luxury.

Oh, I like the look of your test model! The golds and reds are really well done.

I've got a stack of Easterlings on my painting table waiting to be primed, and this thread really gets me excited to paint them up. :D

I had to get all these done to at least a tabletop level over the weekend for a game on Monday - Batch painting For the Win.

There's detailing, highlighting and bases to do, (and then about 60 more of them lol) but I am happy with progress so far.

Yes, I'd be very happy to see that force on the other side of the table from me (or on my own side for that matter!). Certainly a better than average "table top quality" and with a bit more work they should be stunning. 8-)

I have almost finished the bases, so it's now the fun time where the army actually starts to come together. The base theme is a setting in one of the ruined cities between Dol Amroth and Umbar.

Impressive bases. I guess that is what you have to do if one wants to get really nice bases ; not just put some glue onand throw some stuff in after you have painted the model.

And I bet those work really nicely with your bright colored easterlings. The sandy color looked first a bit lame to my eye, but then I thought of the red-gold-blue troops on top of them and it started to make sense. The little greens interacting with the red.

Looking forward to see the army ready.
